Oh, as a retired teacher, I would love to see quote in every school room in the country! Wonderful instructions to any new teacher. Thanks, Elijah!

I love your quote elijah13. I agree with nborchardt. That would be good for a classroom.

Makes me think of how doctors are taught surgery:
Watch one, do one, teach one.

I taught for 32 years--mostly kindergarten and first grades. Miss the kids--some of which are on with me in Facebook and also some of their mothers. Wouldn't teach now--probably would be fired the first day! Also couldn't teach the way you have to now.

You have just stated why I retired 3 years ago. I want to teach and help the kids to succeed in life, not teach to a standardized test which measures nothing.

Teaching today is so different from the way teachers taught back in my day. One teacher with about 35 kids. Now there are at least 2 or 3 people in a classroom besides the teacher. It is because of the diversity in classrooms anymore. It is a challenge for teachers, I just hope I am up to the task.

I have no doubt that you will be, mamag.

Good luck. However when we had 35 kids in a room and no help, the kids behaved much better. Now you can't even look at them with any sign of disapproval or you will be called about it.

You have the training and you know what to do. The trick is to remember and be able to adjust it to what is happening now. My first 6th grade classroom in Honduras was with a 6th grade classroom with 35 kids in it. The best class I have ever taught. It can be done. Set boundaries, enforce them, and show that you care for the kids and it works!

I should be starting my practicum within the next day or two. I am so excited but worried at the same time Hubby is really not doing good at all. He has not left the house since last Monday. His breathing is really bad. I went to church by myself yesterday and everybody missed him so much. Just not the same without him.

One of the helpers at my school told me that a mother said she didn't want her child in my class. The helper said "If you want your child to learn, put your child there." I did set boundaries and enforced them. You can't do that now--you might "hurt" the child.
Good morning everyone. I used to love archery, not really good at it but still enjoyed it. Getting ready for my apt. with the school. Can't wait. Thank ya'll for the positive thoughts and prayers. I will let ya'll know how it went later today. Sending hugs, prayers, and well wishes.
And prayers to you for a great appointment. Positive thoughts are surrounding you, I am sure! Blessings!

Thank you. I will be hearing from the school in a couple of days. I need to get some paperwork sent over to the school and we should be able to start next week.

Hi fellow puzzlers, hope you are all well. I've missed you all. I started doing these puzzles about four years ago. At first it was to eliminate boredom and loneliness, then I got addicted to reading all the comments. At first I stayed silent, enjoying the warm exchange of words amongst you all. I got used to sitting on a cosy chair near my bedroom window late at night and entering a newfound world. C4JS. I'm so glad I met you all. I haven't done a puzzle in a while since my laptop died on me but I still read the comments via my cell phone. As some of you may remember, my eldest child, Adam, was shot and killed last July. Six days ago my eldest sister passed away, two deaths in six months! Thank you all for the support I got from you kind puzzlers. I do appreciate it very much. God bless you all. Thanks Management, you have a good thing going here.

Good night and God bless. Hugs.
God bless you all and may He Keep you "on target" with everything you strive to do.
