I'd love to have a large picture of this scene. I have cousins in Indiana, I think I'll ask them if they're nearby so they can take one for me. This looks so peaceful. It calms me to just look at it.

I love to play in streams like this. So many are destroyed when they dam things up.

Such an interesting waterfall. I wonder what the river bed is made of - it looks like some sort of rock.

I'm up much earlier than normal. I wasn't sleeping very well - I have to have blood tests today and then go back in a week to determine if I need to start chemotherapy.

JamieT, what did you say you might need chemo for? I know you've mentioned it, but I simply can't remember.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes.

I have a blood disorder called multiple myeloma, apparently a plasma cell with an abnormal protein chain that has cloned itself. As long as these plasma cells percentage in below a certain level, things are pretty much ok.

Two major things that this disorder does is cause bone loss to the point where it looks like the bones looks bites have been taken out of bones. The other thing is that these plasma cells don't process through the kidneys.

Do you do chelation to remove the bad plasma or dialysis?
JamieT
Jan 26, 2016
Pixi - The bad cells are in the bone marrow, which is why I've had 2 bone marrow biopsies in just over 2 years. I'll ask about dialysis when I see the doctor on Monday because shortly after having my blood drawn, my doctor called me to tell me a kidney function was elevated - I'm guessing it's my creatinine level.

Prayers for good results, JamieT - and for a cure!

Thanks for explaining it to me, Jamie. I hope you won't have to have dialysis too often. It exhausted my dad when he had it.
JamieT
Jan 29, 2016
Hopefully, no dialysis for some time. I saw a kidney specialist a few months ago. The creatinine level can vary quite a bit based on the amount of water you've drank. Although I've been drinking over 2 liters (about 80 ounces a day), it's often later in the day.

That's good news, Jamie. Keep up the regimen. Anything natural is better for you.

So far, no chemo, but I have to go back today for a bone scan, next week for more lab work and another bone marrow biopsy and then, see the doctor again on the 22nd to see what to do next.

Yes, leukemia is also a cancer that affects your blood cells. I hope your pastor is doing well and is able to beat his cancer.

I am putting this beautiful falls on my list of places to visit on our road trips around the country. Retirement has finally arrived, and now we can go on trips for more than a few days at a time. This site has given me quite a few travel ideas that I had never encountered before. If you just search a map of a 50 mile radius of the site you wish to visit, there are often quite a few interesting places to visit. Not to mention the sites along the way from your place to your target area.

Retirenow14, where are you from? Are you new to C4J? I've been on this site for several years now. I'm in Michigan and we are so fortunate to have so many beautiful and interesting things to see such as the Tahquamenon Falls, The Soo Locks, The Henry Ford Museum, Mackinac Island and Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes just to name a few. Every State is special in their own way.

You are absolutely right, Annie. This country offers phenomenal natural wonders and a.for almost anything. I am from upstate [rural] NY. I worked in several states in the Northeast as well as Georgia. The only one that seemed to offer nothing of interest for me was NJ. I only worked in about 12 NJ towns, but there one town ends on one side of a street and another begins on the other side of the same street. Good thing I was working 50 hours a week! I am told that southern NJ is not so crowded, but I was so turned off by the northern part that I never cared to investigate.

And here in S. Spain it's far too warm for January. No rain, either. Oh dear. Last thing we need is another drought.

The bad thing is that we have some warm days and then some freezing days and so on...everyone catches a cold with this weather...

Greece and Spain--both have some beautiful and rugged places. I love to visit in pictures as I can't in reality. Guess I should check out the puzzles on C4J and visit both of your countries. Now you have seen a beautiful waterfall in my state.

I checked them both--only a few from Greece. I'd like to see more of the terrain as well as famous places, or antiquities. Some of your churches and museums have great artwork.

It´s so beautiful...I would like to visit the States once in my life...I have a cousin who lives in South Carolina, and I miss her so much! But it´s a long trip and very expensive for my pocket...
I would also like to visit Spain, I am learning Spanish these last few years and our books have so many pictures of famous places...

Yes, and the US is so large. I haven't been to South Carolina but would like to visit. It would be about 12 hours away by interstate. No direct way there due to mountains. But it would be an interesting trip for me. For you? Well, if you come to the USA you should see a few other parts as well. :) I would like to see Greece, Thessalonika, as I have an older friend there. She is in her 90's.
