Love knitting in the cooler months, starting to warm up a bit now.
A policeman spots a woman driving and knitting at the same time. Driving up beside her, he shouts out the window..."Pull over! "
"No, " she shouts back, "a pair of socks! "

Knitting is very conducive to thought. It is nice to knit a while, put down the needles, write a while, then take up the sock again. Dorothy Day
I used to work in a nursing home and a lady from Europe was the fast crocheter I have ever seen. And she was about 90!!! Take care and God bless. Hugs.
Good morning Aussie! It is starting to get warm there and cooler here! I love your quote today about knitting. I used to knit in high school, but dropped it. I still sew and latch hook though. I hope you have a wonderful spring there! School is letting out for fall break here for 2 weeks, I am looking forward to getting my house back in order and getting some rest. God bless and hugs!

I hope you didn't consider the fast crocheter a threadt to you, AS. I had a member of my church who decided to go to a nursing home after she broke her hip in a fall, [or perhaps it was an Autumn] at the age of 100. I could rarely find her in her room. She was always doing crafts [I still have one of her footstools she made for me], or peeling potatoes in the kitchen, or going to a service, or out visiting other residents. She only lived to be 104, but she was active to the very end.

Hi olamae - I have made a few latch hook rugs which I made into wall hangings. Loved doing it, but running out of wall space LOL. Hugs.

Hi PW, sounds like my grandmother whose genes I have been fortunate to have inherited. Always on the go and died two weeks before she turned 105. But her health was much better than mine. Take care. Hugs.

Good morning PW and Aussie! I hope if I live to be 104, I am as active as your church member! Aussie I used my latch hook rugs as wall hangings too! I usually make them and give them as gifts! God bless you and ParsonWayne!

I love doing latch hooking. I make mine into both wall hangings and for the floor. My granddaughters love the ones I make for them. The thirteen year old still has hers from when she was real little. That shows me how much she appreciates the work I do for her. Have a blessed day and I pray for safety for all those in the path of Hurricane Matthew.

AS, I am surprised that your grandmother even wore Jeans. Most of the women of that generation would only wear dresses.

I knew you could do it AS. The habit is catching and catching on. We have a lot of pun on this site. In Paris, the Eiffel Tower is a site for sore eyes. Speaking of Paris, anyone who would jump off a bridge in Paris would be in Seine.
You and I can form a club where knitted brows are concerned. I don't even need to be needled for that. My favorite knitting activity was dropping stitches. I was always on the run. I tried to cast around for something I could do but ended with the yarn all balled up.

I will be needled today when I get my flu shot. Sometimes those nurses get under my hide.

I got mine Tuesday. My arm got hot and itchy and was sore in that spot for 2 days. At least I know I got it this time. For 2 years it felt like there was nothing in the shot and I was getting terrible colds the shots had used to keep away.
It's a choice you're stuck with.

I received the extra strength flu shot for Seniors. Even though I graduated many years ago, they still let me have it - in my left arm - almost at the shoulder. I was just hoping it wouldn't be given to me by some flu-zy.

Mine was given by Brunhilde the Viking. I swear, she stood back and threw her spear at my arm to get the vaccine in. Never had a flu shot hurt like that one did.

Got ours this morning, our doctors nurse is very good with them, had mine in my left arm - hubby had his in his right arm - neither one felt it other than a small pin prick. Then went to the grocery that was worse...

I can't blame the medic that gave the shot. It wasn't her lack of technique. This shot was just plain a real doozy.
Baa, baa black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir, Three bags full.
One for $7.50 per skein, and
The other two are on sale
At twenty percent off
Because the colors are being discontinued
So it seems this is your lucky day.
Three little kittens,
They lost their mittens,
And they began to cry.
And all I could think was
What possessed me to knit clothes
For the cats?
Should I seek professional help?
My jokes of the day and now back to school work.
I pray for all those in Haiti and other areas that have been and are still being devastated by Hurricane Mathew. Please stay safe!!!
Used to use lots of yarn, but not anymore. Trying to get caught up on computer today before the hurricane hits. Even tho we are in Central Florida (Orlando area), we could get hit with 120mph winds. I have everything as secure as possible and flashlights, candles, radio etc out and ready to be used when necessary. I have 3 little lights that come on when electricity goes out, so that will help some. It's supposed to start here about 6 pm with gives me about 5 more hours! Have my iPad and iPhone all charged up. I am as ready as I can be. Until later.
I grew up in the northeast and remember the storm of 1938 when I was just a little kid. Our chimney blew off and landed on a neighbor's brand new car. Anyway, the soot was all over everything for many days. We were washing dishes BEFORE we ate as well as AFTERWARD because the soot just seemed to sift down, continuously.

Never lost electricity. Finally lost cable. I didn't think the wind was really bad. Not much on my back walkway--just some small tree debree. My sisters driveway acrross the street has some bigger limbs--not branches in her driveway. My driveway is clear. Glad this is over. Ones in 2004 were worse.

Marine, my grandparents lost a cottage in the '38 hurricane. I still have a little book about that storm. My mother told me how many friends they lost. I was only a little older than 1 year then.
Three nice warm colours, and each would match with the others. I used to love to knit especially Aran patterns, I would knit whatever colours were requested but the true Arran wool ( with the lanolin still in it) was my favourite..
God bless.
My Mum knitted a lot of Arran in the 1970's but I don't thing its quite the same these days, seems it was thicker, warmer (and itchier LOL) She has knitted some brilliant things for people from all over. I didn't inherit her ability at all:(

This is double knitting yarn or dk for short. Good for scarves, cowls and hats. I knit all kinds of things. Baby sweaters, scarves, cowls, hats, lace shawls and heavier shawls. Only thing I haven't tried or should say I have tried with sorry results is socks so they and mitten are out.
