Yep I heard it from my folks who loved to sing all commercials. Ever hear of Pepsodent, Maypo and a dog puppet siging N-E-S-T-L-E-S? Gliss spray starch?

Tell the folks that I remeber Marky Maypo, too. Ask if they remeber the Marky line "wake up, Uncle Ralph, you ole rattlesnake. " Don't know why that has stuck with me all these years, but the mental image still makes me chuckle, especially when I have to wake anyone up!

I would love to but my folks can't remember much anymore and one is already with the Lord! I meant when I was young! I remember "You wonder where the yellow went, when you brush your teeth with Pepsodent"! The Maypo was a little kid demanding his Maypo (hot cereal) saying "I want MY Maypo! " I believe he was shaking a ladder or something. The dog puppet was from Howdy doody! Nestles chocolate drink mix! I do not know if these commercials are the same that you recall. But I loved the Eveready Bunny that keeps going and going and going....

I'm there with you about parents. My dad died when I was 20 from cancer and my mom has alzheimers and does not know who I am. I still send her cards just cause she loves getting them.

Thanks toadalove. It is surprising what you remember about your family once they are gone or even going. Love that idea of sending cards but I had to write to the Alzheimer Assoc. to get more info. on how this manifests itself. very sad sometimes to see these changes. Hold onto your "GOOD" memories they are priceless!

I do that! On the Longest Day our entire family tries to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Association. I will give you all more information later so you can all go in to help. It's a really sad disease! I say the prayer that " I am a child of God and do not inherit illness. " :)

Toadalove--I'm so sorry to hear you lost your dad at such a young age and are now suffering from your mother having Alzheimer's. A young neighbor got it. She was in her 50's and it progressed very quickly with her. One year she stopped while jogging to tell me. the next year she had trouble having a conversation because she couldn't remember all the words. After that I never saw her out again and she was the most cheerful, lovely woman you could hope to meet.

I remember all those ads. How about the ads for Ovaltine? Didn't they have a club with decoder rings to send for? Or peanut butter ads--If you like peanuts you'll love Skippy? Or Good Humor ice cream--I'm the friendly man who sells Good Humor the ice cream kids all favor. Made with pure whole cream and fresh fruit only for that creamy tasting real Good Humor flavor.

Oh, how I miss Good Humor Toasted Almond Bars! Grew up in CT on those, and have never seen one here in MO in 42 yrs!. Last time I was in CT in 09, I found them in the grocery store, and hubby & I ate them like wildfire!

I would request that your supermarket carry all these wonderful creamsicles, fudge sicles, and toasted almond bars at their locations. Depending where you live - do you not have an ice cream wagon come jingling down your street to parks and places selling these items and soft serve cones as well? Of course those are the perks for a CITY MOUSE like me.

I'll put them on my shopping list. Usually I just get a carton of ice cream. However this would be a good alternative.
Micki, I remember Ipana and brushing outside because we didnt have indoor plumbing yet on the farm when I was a child.
thanks for the reminder of those days.(not the lack of plumbing) :)...
