When I was about 9 my parents would put me on the train to go to my grandmother's 4 hours or so south of us. My parents would tell the Conductor to keep an eye on me (at that time was a normal thing to do) and to make sure I got off at 'my stop'. The Conductor came through the car very often and would ask me if I needed anything. My grandmother and aunt would meet me at the little depot in their home town. I absolutely loved those trips.

You were very brave!! Back then though it was safe to ride on a train at a very young age. Employees looked after the young children riding all by themselves.
The perspective on this puzzle was a challenge. It reminds we of the train trip I took to Chicago from DC in May. Except the train we were on started inside the station. The train trip was amazing.
