We were 70's today, but the 90's are coming back for a couple of days...Lots of clouds but not rain reaching the ground in our area.

We are still getting rain. Ohio River is out of it's banks. Everyone keeping their ears and eyes tuned to it incase it decides to reach flood stage. Keeping fingers and toes crossed it doesn't. Still in 60's and not much sunshine.

Thank you. We didn't get rain today they expected us to get, at least not yet. They say river should crest tomorrow. I so hope so. I don't live in flood area, but those that do will be in real trouble.

We are in a good area, there is a larege drainage ditch behind the house next to us, but they keep it well cleaned and it has never overflowed since we have lived here (usually is dry). I can see it from one of the upstairs windows. We are also probably 6-8 feet above the top of it (there is a light incline that you don't notice in the yards).

Good morning CatLadyOKC, the river came within 6' of flood stage. Started receding around midnight last night. Thank goodness. Great the drainage ditch has never caused any trouble. Nice you set that high above though.

Glad that it is receding...have been in floods when I was younger. The town I lived in KS is were the Arkansas River makes it big bend and it used to flood every year. We lived in an area that was not flooded ever but the mill & grain elevator that dad ran was right on it. Now with the flood controls it doesn't do it anymore. Note that river is not pronounced like the state Arkansas, it is the "ARC-Kansas River" for the arc it makes there, was named long before the state. Down here it is aways pronounced it like the state.

Thanks for the info on the river. Didn't know any of what you told me. I like to learn new things every day. You have told me many things I didn't know, such as, the earthquakes you have in OKC, the plates move side to side, while the earthquakes in CA move up and down. You are a great teacher and I remember what you say. :) Just as I will about the big bend and its name. :)

I had a really great teacher my freshman year of HS, took US geo. & World geo., she made it fun and learned a lot, didn't keep up on the world, don't even know a lot of the countries new names, but all we did in the US was add states.
The station we watch here have several weather men & a woman that they pass on the info, as to what it was & why it happened, very knowledgeable in their fields.
