Chocolate covered cherries, Chocolate covered Strawberries and Chocolate cherry cake. Oh, I almost forgot, Coffee ice cream. These are all a one time thing throughout the year. :)

Old recipe of my moms, a macaroon that uses a carmelized pecan that has been cut lenght wise is strips (4-5) also has shaved chocolate added to the macaroon, but just folded in so it shows up as specks. When they are eaten the inside looks like a wasp nest. I will not be making any of the things I listed, since I have to watch my sugar.

Still looking in my recipes for the Wasp Nest one,
most of those I mention were old German recipes, that my Dad translated from ones of my Great-granmother's. Have been in our family for many, many years. Will let you know when I find it.

Thanks. :) Wow that is neat. I love recipes that have been passed down. I have a few of those myself from my grandmother. Makes me think of those special times I had with her every time I make them. I always enjoyed cooking with her. :)

Dark Chocolate is my fave so that sounds very yummy!
I love anything sweet.....however, I can't have anything sweet. I am border line diabetic so Dr. said cut the sweets. What a horrible time of year to be told such a thing. Can you imagine? LOL Believe it or not I've cut out the sweets. :(

I was diagnosed prediabetic....cutting out CARBS is actually much more important than sweets. Carbs turn into sugar. Google it. Unfortunately, doctors don't know much about nutrition and what happens to food in the body. It's long been told that sugar is what makes insulin in your body go haywire and to a point is is. But carbs are a bigger factor. I cut out almost all carbs which in turn made me lose 15 pounds and am no longer prediabetic...no bread, pasta, processed food, cakes, cookies, etc. I do have the occasional treat and am happy to say that I'm very healthy at a few months shy of 60. Try it and see if it doesn't work!

Lydiagintn, thank you for replying and the info you gave me. I did just what you said you did.......gave up processed foods, pasta, breads, etc. and I have lost 15 lbs. as well and fell great. I, too, have the occasional treat. I'm 67 and of great health. Your absolutely right, carbs are the secret to losing weight. My husband disagrees and refuses to give them up and can't lose a pound. Carbs may not be what some people need to worry about but it sure is for me. Again thanks for your insight. I'm happy for both of us in losing weight. I'm always looking on internet for info on diabetes since I'm border line diabetic. Keep me posted if you find anything new on it. :-)

Good for you, I'm 70 & was in the predibetic group at 62, have been bringing it down this year has been the best yet. Watch what I eat & have lost 42 pounds, I also try to walk 1-2 miles per day. If the weather is bad I have several indoor walking DVD's that I can walk with in small area, & works great.

I also walk indoors when weather is bad. I walk for a half hour each day. Glad your bringing your sugar level down. Hope when I go back to dr. he says mine is down.
