Now that is what I call recycling--sometimes my family laughs at me when I tell them about the ol' days. Carmelite Sisters would send greeting cards in pencil so could erase their notes & reuse them.
When I was in school we made our valentines

Happy Valentine's day to all on both sides of the puzzles--solvers and providers. I remember in grammar school we would get packages of funny little Valentine postcards. They usually had an animal and a saying with a pun to it. How many we got was always a big deal. This puzzle reminds me of those days.
Valentines was a few days ago, I didnt get anything! Not even a "happy V Day" ---- I guess some women cant have it all....I have an amazing man who accepted me with 3 kids and takes care of them as if they were his own, so I always tell people who make big deals out of something like V-Day, I'm just grateful for all the other days, and wasting money on flowers to die and a card to sit in a drawer isn't something I worry about!!
When I was a Counselor a lot of my work from young people (both sexes) came after valentines day. Not receiving cards, flowers etc, meant rejection and brought not a few to feelings of low esteem in themselves. I do not get excited over the day, my prayer go out to those for whom the day as not come up to standard, give them a thought.
Barbaranne, we buried a beloved 13-year old dog on Valentine's Day in 2003. This is the first time we have even exchanged cards in honor of the day. My "heart" still wasn't in it...

That's so sad, I can identify with your loss. My daughter & I always exchange cards & little gifts. Doesn't matter if one or both of us have a man in our lives, we are always there with love for each other: Mom & daughter.
