This reminds me of my mother. when I was a child we did not have dryers. oh no. my mom used to hang a load of clothes out on the clothesline everyday! it was long. we lived on the 3rd floor. I was always afraid she would fall out the window. She never did, but I lost of few pair of panties into the next yard! lol
We lived on a farm, not in the city. I hated winter. The clothes would get stiff as a board and my hands would lose all feeling as I took the clothes off of the line. Then I'd end up burning myself on the iron. Because no electric dryer meant lots of wrinkles.

We lived in Chicago and then in Massachusetts. We didn't have a dryer in either place. Clothes either hung on the line or in the basement. Then things had to be ironed--EVEN THE SHEETS because Mother made us do them.
We here in the good old USA are spoiled with our automatic washers and dryers. I do remember hanging clothes on a backyard line with wooden clothespins. Laundry smelled so good from the fresh air....didn't need a scented dryer sheet in those days. Would not like to hang my undies outside for the whole world to see though, like in this puzzle! :)
