That's because a) they ripened on the vine and b) cherries have now been cross-bred to travel easily to market and in doing so, have lost some of their sweetness, like peaches.

Why is it when we try to make something more economical it loses some of its value instead?
Those who eat cherries are known to have lots of pluck.
I have a tree but the varmints and birds start pecking at the fruit before it ripens so even the cherries they don't eat end up getting moldy. I like all the birds it attracts.
We are in the midst of a heavy snowfall. It has no wind so not a blizzard. It's very pretty to look at.
