A big THANK YOU to all my praying friends! The situation seems to have been resolved, for which oh be joyful, though I am so gunshy that I am still a bit tense. Also physically I could feel those prayers kick in! It reminded me of that old spiritual, "I Couldn't Hear Nobody Pray"--but I sure know they did! Thank you all, and thanks to HIM!! I keep telling God he's gonna have to get me some better words. I speak three languages, and "Thank You Lord" just doesn't seem to be enough, in any of them.
What languages, Orinoco? I am in awe of anyone who can speak more than one. I have no talent for it myself.

I'm so glad things are working out for you, orinoco. I'm sure God knows your heart in every language, even in silence. :)

Pixipixil, I am fluent in French and Spanish (though my written French leaves a great deal to be desired) and I can make myself understood in Italian, if the person is from the South.

That's wonderful. Can you read books in those languages? They say French is the most expressive language. What do you think? It certainly is tricky on spelling.

Yes it is, even for the French! I do read French, and understand spoken French, much better than I can speak/write it, as I picked most of it up from watching close-captioned TV. As I like detective stories like Maigret and Nestor Burma, I'm afraid I speak innnercity slang, accent and intonation as well as vocabulary. People say they don't expect that language coming out of this face! I used to be a Spanish/English translator, in my younger days.

Did you translate live like they do at the UN or in writing? My husband's family is in tht area. One of his brothers and one sister were both Spanish teachers and the sister worked with ESL students.

I don't really work in translation anymore after the two TIAs I had. But yes, for years I did simultaneous interpreting. Strokes are the most common cause of death among interpreters who die during their professional life...which is why most people get a different day job after about age 40, it's not Intel Inside anymore. I used to be good; I thought in stereo, it was automatic, so when I became aware I wasn't anymore I started tutoring ESL.
I once did someone's homework for them at the university level, translating a French text. Then they came and asked me to "explain my linguistic choices" so they could defend the translation. Oops. I had made none; it was purely instinctual. I knew what it meant and how to say it, but not how to explain why.
FUN! FUN! FUN! So happy to have my Crazy4Jigsaw Puzzles back! Had a problem with Adobe....missed everyone and missed the Puzzles! Have a great day everyone!
Really too bad about the news on Jerry Lewis - he was so funny in The Nutty Professor. Thanks Jerry you brough us such joy and laughs. I know that we all will miss you! R.I.P. Jerry
I felt like a round ball deserved a circle puzzle. I think this was the easiest circle puzzle I have ever done. It didn't take all that long, either, even though I was also carrying on a three-way messenger conversation trying to set up a lunch date with my three sisters. One of them does not have messenger capabilities.
