Remember the men and women who fought for died for bled for this symbol of freedom. I will cherish her and honor her until I draw my last breath. I am proud to be a retired USAF vet
Absolutely! As a Marine, back in the 50s, whenever we heard that bugle, no matter where we were or what we were doing, we halted, stood at attention, and if the flag was within our vision, we saluted. If we couldn't see a flag, then our hand went over the heart.
That's a big, beautiful flag. We have one at my high school that size that flies on certain occassions. No damage from hurricane. A few branches down but cleaned up by niece and her husband and has already been picked up. Power out 5 days. Got back last night about 7 pm. Went to grocery store this morning to get food for refrigerator. Didn't have much in there but had to throw it all out. That's one way to get a refrigerator cleaned out. Have a good day..I will be happy when my hairdresser can do my hair. It looks awful!
It is September 11 here today as we are about 18 hours ahead of the USA and that tragedy that befell the USA was actually 12 September which is one birthday I will never forget.
And now Irma - we have been getting all the terrible news about the devastation caused by that hurricane and my heart goes out to all those involved. May God keep you safe and well and the inevitable clean-up to follow.
Thank you Aussie and all the other puzzlers who have been saying prayers for us here in Florida. I live on the soutthwest coast near Ft Myers. It was not a fun time this weekend, but we were spared the worst of it. Poor Marco Island and Naples they really took a hit. By the time it got up the coast to us, we are about 35 miles north of Naples, it was not as bad. We live in a gated community that has a lot of protection around it which I'm sure helped also. Thank you again for all your prayers. Please keep praying for the people on Marco Island and in Naples.

We are in the center of the state and got some very high winds for an extended period of time, but fortunately did not have any structural damage. The yard is a mess and will take a while to clean up. Have some partially broken branches that will need to be cut out of their respective trees. Praise God it wasn't worse and we still have power. Hope everyone on here who was posting last week about their preparations have fared well.
