In high school we had a class on using the slide rule--anybody remember those. And how about logorithm tables? Well this new boy ended up in our class and the story goes from the kdds who were math whizzes (not me, believe me) that in math club the coordinator teacher gave everyone this wicked hard problem. Everyone was busy using their log tables to figure it out when ths new boy came up with the right answer way ahead of every one else. "How did you get it so fast, " every one wondered. "Did you use log tables? "
"What are those? " he answered.
The moral--no tool no matter how sophisticated makes up for genius. I bet he'd beat a computer as well. Well maybe not but you know what I'm saying.
