Passed by EDSP 367with an "A" and my EDUC 307 with an "A". Now I hope I can get a good grade on my HIUS 221 and ENG/Lit 201. So far I am down way below where I want to be in my US History class. But this is only week 3 out of 8 so hopefully, I will get my grades back up. I really want to do good in both classes. Please pray for the next 6 weeks that I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.
Hope everyone is having a safe and happy summer.
Congrats on your two A's mamag. On history you have to be good at editing out unnecessary facts. Start with the big picture and get those facts down first. Move from there to more detail. There's really more in it than you can remember so you have to be smart what you pick to concentrate on. Pay attention to the teacher's favorite slant on things. Good luck.

Thank you for the tips pixi. It is all so confusing. I have not any of this stuff since high school back in the '70s. I am trying to remember everything and not doing well. I also have to find scholarly references other than Google scholar and the school library. I keep getting the same stuff. Finding five references are not as easy as it sounds. I am pushing through. Right now I have a "C" with 5 more weeks to go. If I pass with that, I will be okay. then there is my English Lit. Hopefully I will be okay with that. Have a blessed day pixi.

You, too, mamag. I remember taking world history in HS and kept getting in the 70's on the class tests, but when we took the regents (NYS had special tests like the gov't now gives all students to make sure kids were learning the right stuff) I got one of the highest scores. The teacher just didn't know how to edit the material for his students but I had been doing that all along for myself. Sending a prayer up for your success.

What is the topic? Is this for a report? Try newspapers of the period if it isn't ancient stuff. Also try using subtopics in your search. For example if you are doing a battle in the Civil War look up the generals involved. There could be biographies on them with info and they often will have bibliographies that will lead you to other sources. Footnotes can lead to other sources, too.

I am doing a report on the Battle of Chickamauga and General Braxton Bragg. In ENG 102 I am now working on poetry. I may need Aussie for this one. She writes some beautiful poetry.

Mamag, when you are writing a poem, speak from your heart. The words needn't rhyme. Put down what you feel, what you see, even what you hope for. It's called free verse. That's generally what I write. "When I look at the mountains,
I see the Hand that shaped them
over the eons
And my heart sings for the glory
of them, and I know
God is near and watching over us."
That's just a poor example, but I think you know what I mean. Just try it - it will come to you!
Stunning - how lovely it would be to have morning or afternoon tea with great company and a superb view.
Bit sore today, but not as bad as I expected. Just have a huge blister on the back of my arm as I knocked over the oil (5 fin) heater when I fell. It wasn't on when I fell, but the jolt must have turned it on and it took 10-15 minutes for me to get up and my right arm was resting on the heater and I couldn't feel it - probably a bit of shock there.
I had lunch with a chess champion the other day. I knew he was a chess champion because it took him 20 minutes to pass the salt.
You took a bit of a spill. I have to be careful. I have bad feet. Take Care and God Bless :)

So glad you are all right except for the blister, you needed a "token" of the fall to help you to remember....right...as if you would forget. The universe does weird things sometimes. I love the chess quote. If I could live in the mountains I would be in heaven. I have always looked on the mountains as the true cathedrals of God. Blessings.

Aussie, apology accepted, with a giggle! I'm glad you're not as sore as you expected you would be. What are you treating the blister with, or do you treat it at all? How large is it?

If you develop any deep bruises that hurt a lot...soak a good sized piece of cotton in witch hazel and apply to the area for a half hour or so. It helps the pain and helps it heal. Of course, your old standby aloe will take care of that burn.

Jusst catching up now. I'm more concerned you didn't notice the burn happening than the burn itself.
Do you have numbness in that arm? Better keep an eye on that to see if you have anuything similar like a bump you didn't feel. If so you need it cheked. Glad to hear the aches weren't too bad.

Hi pixi, I think I was just in shock at the fall. I feel much better today and will just keep treating the burn with aloe era gel which seems to be working. Hugs.

My mother swore by aloe vera. Glad you are on the mend. Hugs 2u2.
Martha Washington pelargoniums! I finally got one this year but last year no one on this side of the Atlantic was selling them. The one I got is lavendar pink and blooming its little heart out. Worth every penny. Hope it will last the winter when I bring it inside. All but one of the ivy-leafed kind I bought died but the regular geraniums did fine and I am growning little ones from their seeds.
Hope everyone is having a safe and happy summer.
