I've never learned to knit - my mom did teach me to crochet, but all I was able to do was a circle pattern, which is something that I got bored with and managed to create a drink coaster.
I learned to knit but was not very good at it, but really liked to crochet. Made my daughter an afghan for her hope chest and made a couple for myself...that was as far as it got...just lost interest I guess.

Ilearn to crochet, my friend and myself said each of us would make a pincho, now my friend whom is no longer with us could knit beautiful but neither of could make a poncho, well we both said we wpould have a go at making one, Well yes I GOT THE BEST ONE, WHAT I DID, was knit a welt about a inch wide and, i measured around a childs neck,. sewn the 2 ends together, and devided the round into four, and marked each corner, when I came to the corners I crocherd first 3 times into the first hole and then another three again in the same hole, caried on doing this on each corners, till I REACH all four corners,, it is suprizing how easy it is once you get the hang of it my friend was the expert but she could not believe that it was a lot easier and look liked some whom had done this before,, all my friends now ask me to make them for there little ones.give it atry you hav e nothing to loose, but plenty to gain. best of luck with your poncho.
