If I remember correctly many of the main roads in Zion are tinted in a light maroon in keeping with some of the surroundings. It is a unique National Park. Do go!
Wish we had had money to see this when we were young enough to handle the hiking part. This hike is a "must do" but it is also the highest difficulty (only two others rate that) and takes four hours...I'm going by the guide from the park which I saved from last summer.
I am grateful to have been able to do the easy trails. This park is jaw-dropping in its majesty and very accessible via shuttle buses. This isn't a peek over the top park like Grand Canyon (except for moutain goats and people who are very fit). You drive right down to the river bed. Wonderful.
Wishing you all the opportunity to still get out and see nature.
I often remind myself to keep going like the Marine I USED to be. But, whenever I think of the 5 mile-a-day hikes we had back in the 50s, OMG- I can feel the pain, already.LOL

I've always been a sprinter. Those long hauls wear me out. My husband decided to hike up this mountin in the Catskills called Wittenberg. WE brought our collie with a pin in his hind leg. The bottom of the trail was a dry river bed with all sizes of rocks and a mean pitch to it. For me that was the worst part but when we hit the climbing over the boulders part the collie had to be hauled from in front by my husband while I pushed him up from behind. I swore at my husband all up and down that mountain. It must have taken us 4-5 hours just to get up the thing. Two very fit young men blew past us on the way up and were returning from a second peak when we finally got to the top. Pure misery!
It's 4:00 o'clock and I can't sleep so I decided to ge It's 4:00 in the morning and I can't sleep. I don't like to stay in bed and "think. Mu computer is the best medicine I have. It relaxes my mind. I couldn't live without it. Hope everyone has a good day. Have to go get my blood checked today to see what's causing my feet to swell. Wish me luck.
P.S. Excuse my misspelled words. I'm not with it yet. :-)

I couldn't sleep either last night. Sometimes I'll get a migraine and then won't be able to sleep. Hubby will say oh just lie down and close your eyes and you'll go to sleep.

Jingles: good luck with your doctor's appointment. Let us know how you make out. I do have a praise for you, My husband's left foot is completely healed after 2 years. If he didn't have diabetes it would have healed a lot sooner. The right one is doing better but still has a ways to go. This has been going on for 3 years. We had an appointment with his foot doctor at 7:30 this morning. I am not used to getting up at 5:30 to see a doctor.
