I do hope that all of our friends on here from the UK are safe. We have been getting some terrible news of the bad cold weather you are having at the moment. As Darambo on here says, "stay safe".
Thanks Aussie. My daughter and father-in-law lost their power on Friday and may not get it back until Wednesday. All they have for heat is a gas stove. A big tree fell across some power lines and no one has come to take care of it as of Saturday. It is really bad where they are.

So sorry to hear this, must be really difficult to keep warm. May God take care of them and keep them safe. Hugs.

I talked to my daughter last night and they still had no power. She called the electric company and they told her they have to assess the situation before Dad and Becky can get power. Some are still saying not until Wednesday. I just worry about my Father-in-Law as he is 89 next month. He is in fairly good shape but if he gets the flu, it will be hard on him. Thanks for the prayers. There is another storm coming this week for them Another possible 6 inches.
We went all across southern Utah. It is simply breathtaking. If you are in good enough health, go before it's too late. None of us are getting any younger. Zion is our favorite park.

Great Smoky Mountain Nat'l Park is our favorite, very closely followed by Yosemite.

I saw both of them when still with my parents. Yosemite was overrun by hippies washing their clothes in the river in front of the visitor center and sprawled all over the lace. Spoiled the experience for me. Smokies were fogged in when we went so I didn't see much of them.

Hope you will be able to visit the southwest. Arizona, New Mexico and Utah have very diverse landscapes. A person has to get past the color green to enjoy the southwest.

That "fog" in the Smokys isn't fog. The stuff that looks like fog or clouds is actually moisture that rises from the ground of the mountains creating the smoky look.

I've been to Grand Canyon and Yellowstone and Grand Teton Nat'l Park. I recall when I was a kid at the Teton coffee shop. We met our grandparents there. We went down to the coffee shop at 11:30pm and had sundays. What could have taken 10 min. took 45 min. because my grandfather was to tease the waitress with his order - telling he'll have mustard with his sunday. Boy was she confused!

So I have heard, trynfindit. It was really thick when we were there and couldn't see much to appreciate it.
carol, I have been to Yellowstone twice and missed getting to the Tetons both times. We probably won't go back that way. I want to get to the Olympic Park especially the beaches and Glacier park. Had actually planned on it but muy brother changed his plans to see us and asked us to go to the SW to see him so it's back to Zion for us. You won't see me crying over that!
Love the colors. We have such a beautiful country where you can see every kind of land you can imagine. We have snow capped mountains and death valley, towering evergreens and windswept mesas. And our coastlines go from ruggedly beaten rocks to gentle waves on sandy shores. How amazing is that? Can you tell I love America?
Hugs.

God bless you all.
